Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly thereafter exited the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. She has been involved in 53 deals since February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. his father was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family depended sometimes on food delivered by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran recalls that her father was an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after he had been drinking. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her freshman years.
